The Story

Hey, I'm Jochem Van Uytfanghe — most people just call me Jay. I started builtbyjo because I kept seeing the same problem over and over again.

Small businesses with great products and great service, held back by websites that didn't do them justice. Outdated designs, slow pages, sites that looked broken on a phone — or no website at all. Meanwhile their competitors with better websites were winning customers that should have been theirs.

The agencies that could fix this were either too expensive for a small business or treated them like ticket numbers. I thought: why can't a local business get the same quality of website as a big company — from someone who actually picks up when they call?

That's how builtbyjo started: websites built with care, at prices that make sense. But along the way I kept running into a second problem — businesses losing customers not because their website was bad, but because enquiries went unanswered. Evenings, weekends, WhatsApp messages at 11pm. By the time someone replied, the customer had already booked elsewhere.

So today builtbyjo does two things: automated business solutions — AI assistants that answer every enquiry within seconds on your website, WhatsApp, or the phone, and follow-up systems that turn enquiries into bookings — and the fast, modern websites they run on.

How I Work

builtbyjo isn't a big agency with account managers and support tickets. It's me. When you start a project, you work with me directly. Whether it's your website or your automation, I design it, I build it, and I'm the one you message when you have questions.

I know that sounds like it doesn't scale. And you're right — it doesn't. That's intentional. I'd rather build 50 projects really well than 500 poorly. Every project gets my full attention.
